Poll shows Scottish believe stronger SNP is better for Scotland

Opinion Polls show a big rise in support for the Scottish National Party (SNP) while Labour plunges. An ICM poll for The Guardian newspaper suggested the Labour Party was in meltdown in Scotland ahead of next years UK General Election, while SNP support has more than doubled. Compared to the 2010 UK General Election the SNP's support has climbed from 20% to 43% (+23). Labour has gone down to 26% (-16), the Conservatives stand at 13% (-4) and Liberal Democrats 6% (-13). Another survey by Panelbase has found 60% of people thought the Nationalists could successfully use their clout in a hung UK parliament to secure greater powers for Scotland. As reported in the Scottish newspaper The Herald the 'poll also found most people believed the greater the number of SNP MPs elected, the better Scotland's interests would be protected at Westminster.'
