Daily Express withdraw offensive anti-Cornish postings

News From 'Kernow Matters To Us'

Following a written, formal complaint made by 'Kernow Matters to Us' (KMTU) Team to the Editorial Team of the Daily Express in London, which concerned offensive and racist postings made by some members of public written beneath an article on the Cornish language, the offensive postings have been withdrawn in their entirety and the posters banned.

In making the complaint, KMTU informed the Daily Express that offensive remarks made about Cornish people would not be tolerated and that a zero tolerance policy had been adopted.

Mebyon Kernow Call For 2016 To Be The Year Of Cornish Recognition

In 2014 the long overdue designation of the Cornish people as a national minority in Britain under the Council of Europe's "Framework Convention on National Minorities" was announced. Mebyon Kernow - The Party for Cornwall at its first Party Executive meeting of 2016 has demanded action to give substance to this recognition. 

“Yes, Cornwall is a separate feudal authority, ie kingdom.”

So says Kevin Cahill, FRSA who is an author and investigative journalist, living in Devon, England. Isle of Man: Manx Musicians Head for Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow

Celtic Connections is the largest, winter music festival of its kind and the UK's premier celebration of Celtic music, and this year will include a number of top traditional musicians from the Isle of Man.

This is not the first time that the Island has been represented in Glasgow's annual, folk, roots and world music festival, but this year the Manx will be making their mark with local favourites Mec Lir and Manx Gaelic singer Ruth Keggin.

The Capital of Ireland’s Gaeltacht Declares for the Irish Language - Galway is a Gaelic City

Galway City in the west of Ireland has declared itself to be a bi-lingual city giving equal status to Irish alongside English.  Ironic that the City Council is making the effort considering Irish is already the official language of Ireland.

Passing Gaelic Culture Down Through Music

Cape Breton’s Celtic Music Interpretive Centre and the Celtic Colours International Festival are sponsoring a mentoring program that will ensure the passing of Cape Breton’s Gaelic tongue and rich Celtic musical traditions from one generation to the next. Each student will receive instructions in subjects that include Gaelic Language, Fiddle, Pipes and Scottish Step Dancing.  The Mission Statement of the Celtic Music Interpretive Centre is to “Collect, Preserve and Promote the traditions of the Celtic Music of Cape Breton Island through Education, Research and Performance”.

In its 39th year the Central Florida Highland Games is an impressive event. The popularity of the Festival has fueled year to year growth in attendance. Event organizers estimate that 25,000 attended the two day festival in 2015.

Scottish nationalists have extended the hand of friendship to fellow Cornish patriots.

Members of the Scottish National Party (SNP) have indicated they anticipate with pleasure hearing the case for Cornish autonomy or indeed independence in Parliament.

The remarks by Calum Kerr MP (SNP) the member for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk, came during a Westminster Hall debate on farming led by Derek Thomas MP for St. Ives in Kernow .
