That is my promise.  As I prepare to undertake this work, my vision is of Wales where the Welsh language is central to public life, where Welsh speakers have the confidence to use Welsh and trust in the law to right any injustice they may suffer for using the Welsh language."  Huws continues to live up to her words.  

Gaelic League Calls For Senior Minister for the Gaeltacht - Poll Results Show 63% Support For State Services In Irish

The Gaelic League (Conradh na Gaeilge) have called for the appointment of a Senior Government Minister for the Irish Language and Gaeltacht.  The League's announcement cited the results of an independent poll that measures the levels of support in the Irish Republic for the provision of State Services in Gaelic for Irish speaking communities (Gaeltacht):

UK Government Cuts For Cornish Langauge Condemned

'Kernow Matters To Us' (KMTU) utterly condemns the United Kingdom Government for failing to return £150,000 of Cornwall raised taxation in order to support the Cornish language.

It is possible that this move may be in contravention of the spirit of the Charter for Regional and Minority Languages in 2003 and the recognition of the Cornish people as a national minority in April 2014 and their incorporation into the Framework Convention for National Minorities.

Culture Vannin is delighted to announce the first two recipients of a bursary scheme for young fluent speakers of Manx that will enable them to attend a summer school in Irish language and culture run by Oideas Gael in Donegal during the summer of 2016. Two bursaries will cover travel and accommodation costs to the selected summer school.
