Frongoch is a village in Gwynedd north Wales. It is located close to the market town of Bala. It was the home of the Frongoch internment camp, used to hold Irish Republican prisoners from the 1916 Rising.  There were approximately 1,800 Irish prisoners in Frongoch, including prominent Irish revolutionaries Michael Collins and Arthur Griffith. Although enduring harsh conditions the Irish prisoners took the opportunity to exchange information and plan tactics for the next phase of the armed struggle for Irish freedom.

Writing in his Scottish blog (link below) Scottish commentator Paul Kavanagh referenced the recent agreement on the BBC Charter and bemoaned the lack of a true National broadcaster in Scotland. A glance at the photographs might mislead many into believing they were taken in some sub tropical clime. In fact they are views of Trebah, in Cornish 'Tre Worabo' meaning Gorabo's farm. Yes, our language is all about us!

Correctly Trebah should be pronounced 'TREBB-a'.

Trebah is a 26-acre sub-tropical garden situated near Glendurgan Garden and above the Helford River in the parish of Mawnan, Cornwall.

The gardens are set within an area of the same name, which includes the small medieval settlements of Trebah Wartha and Trebah Woolas.

It is a run where runners pass on the baton at every kilometres for 1700 kms, 8 days and through 300 towns. This represents the passing of the breton language. The funds that are collected will be used to fund Diwañ schools projects and other projects related to Breton (creches with breton immersion, plays, films, libraries, publications...).
