Eilean a' Cheo - Glasgow Sky Association Annual Gathering 2014

Skye or the Isle of Skye (Scottish Gaelic:An t-Eilean Sgitheanach or Eilean a' Cheò EileanI) are the Gealic names for that beautiful Island located in the Inner Hebrides (Na h-EileanaG a-staigh) of Scotland (Alba). This coming Friday 5th December Glasgow Skye Association is holding their Annual Gathering of pipes, music and dance. The guest of honour is John Norman MacLeod, Vice Principal and  Director of Studies at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig. This event is not to be missed. Concert begins at 7.30pm and Dance from 10.30pm - 2am.

Isle of Man: Norwegian-Manx Musical Collaboration Breaks New Ground

The Norwegian-Manx Musical Collaboration is just one of the many exciting projects to emerge from the Island based organisation Culture Vannin, but with their debut performance at the Erin Arts Centre in 2013, it was soon obvious that this successful partnership had tapped into something new and exciting.

During Sunday 30 November, 2014, the Convener of the Kernow Branch Celtic League, Cllr Mike Chappell met with members of various ethnic communities to discuss growing fears over racism in the Duchy.

The Kernow Branch has a number of members from various ethnic minorities who regard themselves as Cornish.

IRISH GOVERNMENT URGED TO ACT TORTURE CASE

The Celtic League has written to the Irish governments Justice and Foreign Affairs Departments (Ministers Flanagan and Fitzgerald) expressing support for a new approach to the European Court of Justice over the torture of internees in the north of Ireland in the early 1970s (see below).

The League are supporting calls already made by Amnesty International and the Pat Finucane Centre.

The news airport planned for Nantes appears to have been put on hold whilst environmental issues are considered.

Two years ago the Celtic League reported on opposition to the Airport (see attached link including video of violence by the French police towards protesters):

WELCOME TO THE BRITISH IRISH COUNCIL FAMILY NICOLA

The British Irish Council (BIC) has met on the Isle of Man and not surprisingly the main focus was on ‘new girl on the block’, Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland.

Nicola was generous to her Manx hosts saying her country could ‘learn from the Isle of Man’ and its dealings with the United Kingdom particularly over VAT arrangements.
