The high profile human rights lawyer Amal Clooney is to be part of a team of lawyers representing the ‘Hooded Men’ in a case before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
The men, all arrested in 1971 in Ulster and interned without trial, were subjected to ill treatment by the British Army.

Isle of Man: Friends of Manx National Heritage Learn More about the Voyage of Odin's Raven

With the voyage of the replica Viking boat Odin's Raven no more than a distant memory for some, members of the Friends of Manx National Heritage at the House of Manannan relived this unique journey, which formed part of the celebrations of Millennium Year, by watching the original documentary made in 1979.

After a brief introduction by Development and Administration Officer Nicola Pemberton, the audience was transported back more than thirty years to relive the highs and lows of its crew as they crossed the seas from Norway to the Isle of Man.

The remark by Peter Karran, MHK, about the Isle of Man having a ‘Mickey Mouse’ news media may be dismissed as just a throwaway remark in the Keys during one of Mr Karran’s interminable clashes with the establishment.

However, as we remarked in an early item for CL News the alacrity with which a government spokesman denigrated Mr Karran and praised the press must beg the question; Has the Manx media become ‘a creature’ of government?
