Now here is something that stuffed shirted bewigged Manx Deemsters, apparently perpetually anchored in the 19th century, had better not hope catches on in the Isle of Man.

Integrity Ireland (I-I) which was set up to campaign against judicial malfeasance and ‘encourage openness, transparency and justice in Irish State institutions’ - especially in ‘policing, the legal profession and the Courts’ mounted something of a coup earlier this month in the Courtroom at Castlebar in Co Mayo (see link):

New Deepcut Inquest Will Last Several Weeks

The body of Private Cheryl James from Llangollen was exhumed last month ahead of a second inquest into her death and metallic fragments were removed for forensic examination. The exhumation took place at the family’s request

Pte James was one of a number or recruits who died in suspicious circumstances whilst undergoing initial training at Deepcut Army base. She was found with a bullet wound to her head in November 1995.

Her body was reburied after a short ceremony with the close family present.

Historic Saratoga Springs Hosts the 19th Annual Irish 2000 Music and Arts Festival

In the 19th century Saratoga Springs was founded as a noted spa town graced with elegant hotels, gaming facilities and the Saratoga Race Course. This weekend the Saratoga Fairgrounds in nearby Ballstson Spa is host to the 19th Annual Irish 2000 Music and Arts festival.

Scottish Referendum 'Vow' Seen As A Confidence Trick

At the time of the Scottish Referendum the then three main United Kingdom political party leaders, Prime Minister David Cameron, then Labour leader Ed Miliband and then Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg, signed up to the idea of a 'Vow' to the Scottish people. The 'Vow' was a pledge that there would be substantial devolved powers to the Scottish Parliament if the people of Scotland would vote against full independence in the Referendum  on 18 September 2014.

Mann: New Twist In CBC Tax ‘Expose’

The CBC Story about alleged tax evasion via the Isle of Man which we reported on last week is starting to ‘grow legs’.

Although the revelations focused on one family’s finances Canadian Revenue Authorities (CRA) believe such ‘tax planning’ may be more widespread.

In a new twist a tax litigation firm in Montreal Canada’s second largest city is advising anyone using ‘shell companies’ to avoid tax liabilities that they (as they put it) could walk away ‘relatively unscathed’.

The Lord of Man seems to having something of an ‘annus horribilis’ in relation to dealings with her loyal subjects in the ‘Crown Dependency’ on Mann!

Last week it was revealed that one of her appointees, suspended Attorney General Stephen Harding is considering suing another of her appointees (her man on the ground here) the Lt Governor, Adam Wood.
