St Piran is the third in a succession of patron saints of Cornwall, after St Petroc and St Michael the Archangel.  Originally, he was the patron saint of tinners.

“The Stormont Executive has failed in its legal duty to adopt an Irish language strategy, a High Court judge ruled on Friday.

Mr Justice Maguire held the administration to be in breach of a requirement imposed under decade-old legislation.

The challenge was mounted by Irish language group Conradh na Gaeilge.
The body issued judicial review proceedings over a failure to comply with a St Andrews Agreement pledge.

The National have sent us a preview of tomorrow’s new magazine launched in conjunction with the independence supporting web site Bella Caledonia.

It’s an interesting development in that what was initially a social media blog has now gone main stream.

Other independence sites like ‘Wings over Scotland’ are also flourishing. Wings recently raised way above its fundraising target of £45,000 within hours of the appeal being launched.

“The formal recognition of Irish Travellers as an indigenous ethnic minority by the Republic of Ireland has been hailed as a "historic" day.

Members cheered and applauded in the Dáil (Irish parliament) on Wednesday as Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Enda Kenny made the announcement.

There was a standing ovation as he gave status to the "distinct ethnic group".
He said the statement of recognition would go some way to ensuring they have a "better future with less negativity".

There is concern that a proposed Motorway bypass in Wales will setback the progress of a project which has reintroduced an iconic bird to wetlands it once populated.

“The proposed £1bn M4 relief road around Newport would cut through the first nesting site for common cranes in Wales in over 400 years, it has emerged.

The RSPB said the revelation, in a Welsh Government ecology report, was emblematic of wider environmental concerns about the scheme.

A five-month public inquiry into the plans begins on Tuesday.

Alexander Fleming FRS FRSE FRCS (6 August 1881 – 11 March 1955) was a Scottish biologist, pharmacologist and botanist, whose crucial discovery of penicillin saved the lives of millions of people all over the world. In September 1928 while studying influenza Alexander Fleming noticed mould had developed accidentally on a set of culture dishes being used to grow the staphylococci germ. The mould had created a bacteria-free circle around itself. He experimented further and named the active substance penicillin.

The Secretary of Kernow Matters To Us (KMTU) has written directly to the Council of Europe regarding the unelected Boundary Commission's 'Devonwall' proposals.  

This has been followed up by a telephone call made by the Chair of KMTU directly to the Council of Europe in order to ensure that the full gravity of the communication and of the Boundary Commission's proposals and the threat they pose to the Cornish National Minority are fully understood.

We received the news today that the unelected quango, the Boundary Commission, have decided to cast aside all they were told last year and to continue to recommend a cross border Devonwall Constituency.

St David is the Patron Saint of Wales and March 1st is St David's Day. The first of March is recognised as a National Day throughout Wales. It is also a day of celebration for Welsh communities throughout the world and the Welsh flag with Y Ddraig Goch (the Red Dragon) is proudly raised. The date is tradionally seen as the date that Saint David died in 589. David was the son of the Prince of Powys and he went on to found a monastery on the site where Saint David's Cathedral now stands in Tyddewi/City of St David's in Sir Benfro/Pembrokeshire, Cymru/Wales.
