A new online register recording historic place names in Wales has been launched. The list, which already has nearly 350,000 location entries, will be regularly updated. The Welsh Government included the requirement for a statutory list in its Historic Environment (Wales) Act.

The Conservatives won 46 out of the 122 seats, with the Liberal Democrats taking 37 seats, followed by 30 Independent councillors. Labour have five seats and Mebyon Kernow four.

The unitary authority's remaining 123rd seat, Bodmin St Petroc, will be contested at a later date.

Negotiations will now have to occur to form the Unitary administration.

As part of the initiative Isle of Architecture, author, historian and enthusiast Dr Kathryn Ferry recently gave an illustrated talk based on the changing face of seaside architecture at the Centenary Centre in Peel.

Dr Ferry spent her early years by the sea in North Devon, but was further stimulated in her architectural interests by childhood holidays by the sea. And although now better known as an architectural historian, writer and broadcaster on a number of seaside related subjects, her first academic interest was Victorian architecture and design.

Demands are growing for the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs to disclose how Ireland voted on Saudi Arabia's membership of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. According to the UN, the Commission on the Status of Women is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. Last month, Saudi Arabia successfully campaigned for a seat on the commission, securing 47 votes, at least five of which are said to have come from European countries.

BIZARRE VISIT TO CORNWALL BY PRIME MINISTER MAY!

It has to be a big pat on the back for the valiant journalists from the West Briton (and sister newspapers) to say thank you for attempting to remind the blow in Prime Minister MAY that we do just still live in a democracy, well in Cornwall at least!

The Scottish Diaspora Tapestry (Scottish Gaelic: Grèis-bhrat Diaspora na h-Alba) is on display in its entirety for the first time in Scotland and is being exhibited at St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh until 18 May 2017. The Tapestry is a community arts project that celebrates the Scottish Diaspora through embroidery. Involving communities around the world it recognises Scottish heritage and culture, and the people and places which connect Scotland to its global diaspora. Work on the panels began in 2012.
