Thousands March in Dublin to Demand Irish Language Rights

On Saturday 15th February an estimated 10,000 people marched in Dublin to protect the rights of the Irish speaking community. Attracting people from all over Ireland Lá Mór na Gaeilge was seen as both a celebration of the Irish language and a protest over the failure by Government to implement legislation protecting the rights of Irish speakers.

The march began at the garden of Remembrance at Parnell Square and concluded with a rally in front of  Dáil Éireann. Lá Mór na Gaeilge was organised by Conradh na Gaeilge and marks the beginning of a campaign to seek equal treatment for Irish language speakers.  Further demonstrations are planned in Conamara, Gaoth Dobhair and then in Belfast on 12th April.  http://www.irishtimes.com/news/social-affairs/thousands-march-for-langua...
