Scottish Referendum Result in Focus at AGM
NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE
The recent Scottish referendum was the focus of considerable debate at the AGM of the Celtic League held in Dublin at the weekend (10-12th April 2015).
A number of League members had travelled to Scotland during the referendum run up to help with campaigning.
Iain Ramsay the Scottish Branch Secretary of the Celtic League reported on the post referendum feeling in Scotland and said that nationalists and other pro-independence groups were far from downhearted.
In addition both the Convenor and the General Scotland gave a post referendum analysis in their reports.
Finally a motion jointly proposed by the Kernow and Eire branches was agreed:
“This AGM commends the people of Scotland who ran an excellent YES campaign leading up to the Independence Referendum in 2014.
Affirms its solidarity with the ’45 percent’ in Scotland who despite the entire machinery of Westminster ranged against them, came within a ‘baw’s hair’ of winning the Independence Referendum and will be monitoring the Westminster Government’s actions on their promises.”
