Stop Press: Friday’s ‘Cornwall Housing Summit’ for developers has recommended an increase of new builds in Cornwall from 52,000 to 60,000!
A message from campaign co-ordinator, Orlando Kimber:
Purely by chance, I met one of the UK’s leading landscape architects last week.
He was in Cornwall to look at possible sites for ‘Garden Villages’, the Government’s new plan to build houses in clusters on green field sites. He freely admitted that he feels very uneasy about this, as the plans are for little more than regular housing developments under a different name. The proposal for ‘Garden Villages’ is here

A draft of the revised 'National Planning Policy Framework' (NPPF aka ‘the developer’s charter’) is out for consultation. A summary can be found here:

Great news, we’ve passed the 8000 mark. Can you think of anything you can do to help this petition to “20,000 strong” ? Please let me know via the ‘Campaign created by’ button, top left at https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/protect-cornwall-s-green-fields
Declare yourselves Cornish! It's your legal right!
More and more authorities, health (as attached), education, government and so on are complying with the Framework Convention and including 'Cornish' as a National Identity. Recently, Companies House, the main register of businesses in Great Britain has amended its register to include 'Cornish' and three of our members who are company directors are recorded as such.
This is now your legal right and so if you are Cornish, then make sure you are recorded as such. If there is no 'Cornish' box, then enter 'other' and write in 'Cornish'.
This is your absolute right! The Council of Europe note is attached.
On 24 April 2014 the Cornish were granted minority status within the UK and the Westminster government formally recognised the distinct identity of Cornish people.
