Petition against "Ring of Iron" sculpture in Wales to be presented to Senedd on 18th September 2017

The organisers of the petition to stop the proposed plans for Flint Castle's Iron Ring sculpture have announced that the petition will officially be handed over on the 18th of September. The plan is to organise an event for the hand over, and people are encouraged to attend. The handover will take place on the steps of the Senedd in Cardiff, Wales, CF10 4PZ at 2.30pm so those attending are asked be there at 1pm.

The mounting opposition in Wales to the "Ring of Iron" was recently reported on Transceltic. The proposed sculpture is to stand at Flint Castle. This was one of the first of a series of castles built in Wales by the English King Edward I (17/18 June 1239 – 7 July 1307) during his campaign to conquer Wales. They were constructed with the aim of forming an "Iron Ring" used to suppress Welsh resistance.  The very idea of celebrating England's "Iron Ring", which was used to subdue and conquer the Welsh people in the campaign to deprive them of their independence, has met with wide scale condemnation. A petition against it was organised and you can read more and sign the petition here: http://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/no-to-flint-castle-s-planned-iron-...
