News from the Celtic League:
The option of independence could become more of a viable concept if the UK breaks its own umbilical with the EU. It is not just in Scotland that this is being postulated but as this ITV News (Channel Islands) indicates the possibility of Jersey of a confederation of both Jersey and Guernsey going it alone would be practical (link):

For years whilst politicians in the dependencies run a mile from the idea of the ‘I’ word no serious and objective study has been carried out to gauge what advantage if any accrues from the political link to the United Kingdom.
Meanwhile as for Manx National Pride that seems to amount to playing a bit of music and dancing or having a pantomime on Tynwald Hill once a year.
Recently Allan Bell’s (quite honest) statement that legally the Manx are ‘British’ caused a brief flurry of activity (link):

There was a banal spurt of outrage from Bill Malarkey MHK (what ever did happen to his Keys query?) who seemed to be unaware that to get admission to ‘The House of Clowns’ he had to put ‘British’ on his nomination form – so much for retentive memory!
But indignation soon subsided and still we cling like a baby to nanny’s apron strings.
One thousand years of Tynwald they say - for what to become and stay British?
‘O LAND OF OUR BIRTH’!
Image: Occasionally some graffiti asserts the nationalist identity prompting ‘the colonial police’ to action. Singularly ineffective at catching burglars they were adept at tracking down the last vestige of youth to assert national pride. This calling card later at Government House.
