iScot: A ‘Most Impressive Publication’

NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE

I was contacted the week by a journalist, Paul Kelbie, seeking an update on our ‘Celtic Treasures’ campaign. The campaign which identified artefacts like the Lewis Chessmen, The Chronicles, The Gold Cape of Mold etc seeks to promote their return to their home countries.

His call was prompted by the return of six of the Lewis Chessmen to the new museum in the Outer Hebrides (link):

Paul had previously spoken with me and cited our campaign over the restitution of artefacts in an article when working as a journalist at the Observer some years ago.

He is with iScot magazine now a publication I had heard of but not paid much attention to.

Paradoxically today the pro-independence website ‘Wings over Scotland’ has run an article on iScot which is one of the few pro independence print publications.

Stuart Campbell who runs ‘Wings’ is not noted for shelling our plaudits like New Years Honours but about iScot he says it is one of:

‘the most impressive productions.. which has existed for almost a year already, but is curiously little-heralded’.
