I’ve just read a selection of written questions posed for written answer in this new device supposed to convince us that whilst Tynwald is actually on holiday and enjoying the fringe benefits to their £50K plus they are ‘pretend’ working. They were helpfully posted as always by Crown Dependency News:

The questions and questioner’s are thoroughly depressing. Jason Moorhouse MHK who is the Tynwald equivalent of a cabbage patch doll animated by Japanese technology is asking a series of pointless questions as he proceeds with his crusade to become the most boring politician in the last 100 years of Tynwald.
Daphne is firing of questions which would tend to indicate she’s still a tad miffed over Howard's decision to axe her as Children's Champion - or whatever it was.
Meanwhile Kate Beecroft MHK is yapping around like an excited spaniel at Alf Cannans heels. Kate is firing barrage after barrage about something called the ‘Half Tide Dock’ which I’m not familiar with but I’m sure Travelwatch have a copious file on (Keep your eye on ‘the portal’).
Alf famously told Beecroft during their last encounter about the Film Industry that she shouldn't’ be asking silly questions. After this month it's likely he’ll suggest she is chained to a rock at ‘low tide’.
Rob Callister MHK who spends a fair bit of time on the Internet can’t seem to grapple with the intricacies of the various postal services around the UK etc. Usefully he has fellow Onchan colleague Julie Edge MHK to help him resolve his puzzle.
I thought I saw one of the new gender balanced MLCs for a moment but perhaps it was as illusory as the coast of SW Scotland on a misty day.
No one it seems asks anything meaningful although Juan Watterson obviously with a clear head despite the hols poses some interesting points about Brexit - basically he is saying to Howard: ‘Have you got a clue’. Maybe he knows there is a storm coming and our political crew are not fit for purpose!
