BZH New York has announced a very busy upcoming calendar of Breton events in NYC. BZH New York is an organisation of Bretons and friends of Brittany. They are dedicated to promoting the language, culture, economy and tourism of Brittany.
Sunday, Sept 15th - The annual Pate Henaff picnic in Central Park. Hénaff is a century-old pâté producer based in the village of Pouldreuzic, in the Bretagne region. Hénaff pâtés and rillettes are dear to many French gourmands and praised for their quality and taste. Hénaff has remained a local family-owned business to this day, even though its meat preparations are now exported all around the world.
Saturday, Sept 21st - BZH New York will particpate in the 56th annual Steuben Parade on 5th avenue from 12 - 2pm, marching from 66th - 86th street. The parade is broadcast live on PBS TV. Friday, Sept 27th - Don't miss our Interceltic Fest Noz, one of the largest Celtic events of the year in NYC with music and dance celebrating the common heritage, traditions, culture, and story of immigration of Celtic people of NYC. Featuring numerous bands and performers from Celtic nations in a fest noz and ceili like atmosphere at Connolly's Times Square (121 W 45th street 7pm - 2am).
Sept 20th - 29th - BZH New York will be organzining a special musical residency between Brittany-based kan ha diskan singers, Armel an Hejer and Alain Le Clère who will work in a unique collaborative project with James Lovell and Garifuna (Caribbean) percussionists to blend endangered musical traditions.The musicians will work in studio to develop a common repertoire which will then be shared in a series of concerts and events in New York City, noteably at the Taste of France in Bryant Park on September 28th & 29th.
