Tatws Pum Munud or Five Minute Potato


  • Sliced Potatoes
  • Sliced Onions
  • Bacon (Smoked Ham or Canadian Bacon are good substitutes)
  • Seasonings to Taste
  • Broth (Optional)

Bring the pot to a simmer and cover.

This traditional Welsh dish is ideally suited for busy working families.

Although the traditional recipe calls for bacon, substituting any type of smoked Pork or Ham product will do nicely. The use of prepared broth is an option and there are good low fat brands of broth readily available.

When broth is added, this dish is more of a stew. Rather than five minutes for best results give it a half hour, especially when using raw potatoes. Celery and carrots add a nice touch.
