LEAGUE PASS CR LETTER TO FOREIGN AFFAIRS DEPT

The Celtic League has written to the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin (DOFA) enclosing correspondence recently received from the British Ministry of Defence about the use of CR gas in the North of Ireland.

The League has been pursuing enquiries for several years about its use to quell a prison disturbances and other civil use and also the still unresolved issue of the disposal of stocks held by security forces in the North.

As Manx police spend loads of cash on ‘enhanced security’ and searching for explosive devices that don’t exist ahead of tomorrows Tynwald Day the real ‘bombshell’ will come from a very different direction.

We understand that the Manx Nationalist Party will unveil their new look Free Newspaper, ‘Yn Pabyr Seyr’.

In previous years the Nationalists have always produced a news-sheet generally a four sided A4 fold although sometimes doubled.

FRENCH UN PEACEKEEPERS IN CHILD ABUSE SCANDAL

United Nations Peacekeepers do a tremendous job world wide and the Celtic League have often commended their role, particularly the role of contingents from one of the Celtic countries, Ireland, many of whom have died defending the oppressed and the vulnerable. Indeed following this years Annual General Meeting I took the opportunity as DOI of the League to visit the memorial garden for Irish UN Peacekeeper at Arbour Hill Dublin.
