St Piran events in Kernow and beyond! A celebration of Cornwall's National Saint!

28 Perranporth – Cornish Dancers Kemysk and Aggie Boys Choir will be celebrating St Piran in dance and song at various locations in the town.

March, 2014

1 London – On Saturday 1st March, Kernow in the City will host their annual live music event at the Institute of Contemporary Arts. Headliners Dalla will be joined by singer-songwriter Louis Eliot, casio-rappers Hedluv & Passman, bi-lingual English/Kernewek comedy duo The Cornish Oafs and more! 1 Redruth – St Piran’s festival will take place on the 1st March. This will include a midday procession, choir, live music, circus acts, displays, activities and exhibitions. (http://www.visitredruth.co.uk/World-Heritage-Tourist-Information/St_Pira...)

1 Roche – A Cornish variety evening will take place on the 1st March in the Victory Hall, 7pm for Air Ambulance.

1 St Ives – On Saturday 1st March there will be a procession through the streets leaving the guildhall at 2pm.

2 The St Piran Trust will be staging the annual promenade St Piran Play at Penhale Sands on Sunday 2nd March 2014, commencing at 2 p.m. at Piran Point, Perran Sands Holiday Site. The play will contain several Acts, one of which will be at the oratory, and finish at the ruined church by the celtic cross. It's a special year for the Trust. It is anticipated the oratory will be on view with the long awaited excavation due to start on 17th February.

5 Bodmin – A parade through the streets with Cornish pipers and a children's dance, starting at 10.30 from the library. Following speeches by various notables, there will be children's performances of Cornish plays and songs in St Petroc’s church. 5 Falmouth - A parade through the town will be leaving The Moor at 10.00am to Weber St, High St, Market Strand, Prince of Wales Pier, lower Killigrew St back to the Moor where there will be Cornish dancing followed by refreshments and story telling in the Methodist Church.

5 Launceston – The St Piran’s flag will be raised at 8am over the castle and then lowered in ceremony at 6pm with a procession to the square followed by Cornish music and dance. Contact Rob Tremayne for details on 01566 772164

Penzance - annual performance of St Piran Furry dance and procession through the streets by 500 children. Annual St Piran Schools Concert.

5 Truro - Procession through the streets with speeches outside Truro Cathedral, which has a St Piran themed lunch menu in its cafe, and a Cornish folk music session afterwards. Hundreds of people attend the parade annually.

7 Perranporth School will be performing 'The Welcome' on Friday 7th March at 6 p.m. when a statue of St Piran will be taken to sea and landed on the beach. It will be followed by children dancing through the streets and Noz Lowen in the Memorial Hall.

8 There will be a Cornish variety evening at Syd’s Bar, Bodmin raising money for Cancer Research.

8 Callington – The Twinning Association and Old Cornwall Society is organising a St Piran's Supper in the Town Hall on the 8th March at 7pm, with Cornish entertainment. Tickets are £15 available in advance from Keith Shaw – (01579) 370344, limited numbers available.
