NEW PROGRAMME ON MAN TARGETS WOMEN

As part of its 2015 programming Manx Radio (the Isle of Mans National Radio Station) has introduced a daily one hour magazine programme called Women Today.

Although primarily aimed at its target audience the programme presenters suggest it will also have a broader focus.

So why has it taken so long for such a programme to be scheduled? After all Manx Radios ‘big brother Corporation’ (the BBC) has had ‘Woman’s Hour’ for years.

While in Ireland RTE had a programme with the same title as Manx Radio’s new offering in the 1970s. RTE’s ‘Women Today’ was at the time described as a ‘landmark radio current affairs programme’.

Perhaps MR schedulers are putting their house in order ahead of the draft ‘Equality Bill 2015’. Who knows?
